About Me

Hi, I’m Nora and welcome to Bobbin to Bobbin, LLC. Just to introduce myself, I am a proud mom to one daughter and  two sons, a “mother-in-love” to an additional son and daughter, and a “Mema” to three wonderful grandchildren. In  my “me” time, I enjoy quilt piecing, longarm quilting, decorating, cooking, gardening, and most importantly,  friends. Basically, I enjoy all things family. I guess I am a continual nest feather-er!

When I look back, I realize that I have been sewing most of my life. I remember my first blouse. It started out as a rectangle. I folded the width of the fabric in half and stitched three quarters of the way up the two sides creating armholes. Next, I cut an opening on the fold for my head, turned it inside out, and called it “DONE!” I was probably eight. Fortunately, my skills have increased significantly since then.

In the late 70s, I attended a fashion design school and upon graduation, I was asked to stay and teach. I assisted in the patternmaking, dressmaking, and fiber arts classes. My sewing experience ranges from practice swatches to tailored suits, from gift items to slipcovers and drapery. As my daughter grew, I enjoyed sewing everything from sun suits to prom gowns. For many years, a friend and I also did the craft show circuit, creating handmade items for the home and jointed teddy bears adorned in hand-knit sweaters. But, I never quilted.

In 1993, a quilt shop opened in the area. I literally avoided it for years because I knew I would easily get hooked. Finally, when the temptation was too great, I jumped in and have been swimming in fabric ever since. That was 20 years ago. I love all that quilting brings to my life, especially the wonderful friendships.

For the last 10 years, I have finished my own quilts on a mid-arm Baby Lock(tm) sewing machine on a Grace(tm) frame. Then, in 2014, “Miney” moved in! (As in… “I can’t believe she’s all MINE! YA HOO! I actually have a longarm!”) Miney is an APQS Millennium(tm), 24″ longarm. Because I enjoy everything about the quilting process as well as the interaction with people, I decided to offer my quilting services to others. Through the website I hope to document my journey as a piecer and my continued growth as a professional longarm quilter. I hope you will join me as I quilt from Bobbin to Bobbin.
